Late autumn in the south of the Lake District.
Late autumn colours in the south of the Lake District at the end of my day travelling north from London to take advantage of a pause in the autumn storms, caused by a polar anticyclone which is making a useful intrusion as far south as Cumbria.
So a watery sunset seen from near the summit of the Kirkstone Pass (454 m.) before arriving in Keswick after dark and with the ice warning light flashing on the dash of this hired Fiat 500. Maybe a bit gutless on the motorway going from 60 to 70 but otherwise fine, cruises along with the traffic flow OK. This one, the steering is fine, a previous hire seemed to have sloppy steering. Handling OK, this isn’t the Alps but there are hills, I drove it over the Kirkstone Pass just now. Headlights only adequate.
