Back south from the mountains, the sky clearing but the colours of the trees and grass showing early autumn both in the mountains and down in Provence.
The Lautaret, Cayolle and Vars cols are all well known but the clues of the Alpes d'Haut Provence have spectacular geology, my photo is of the clue on the river Arigéol, a tributary of the Bléone; not quite a full Vélodrome (cycle track) as there is nearby at Esclangon) but more accessible as the road passing though the clue is a great motorbike route down from the Col de Maure (1346 m.) and the Col de St. Jean Montclar (1333 m.).
