A real summer sunshine day out from hot smelly London to Henley-on-Thames, enjoying the flowers and the flags still fluttering following the regatta a couple of weeks ago. Folk messing about on the river, a cyclist watching them and the ducks whilst enjoying his ice cream cone. The chairs in an Edwardian launch look out of place but that’s my modern eye, that’s how a classic Thames launch should look. Up in Makin’s Field  the BMX riders get a great view from their specialist track. The trains from Paddington are at last electric, change at Twyford for the Henley branch line, then it’s a diesel railcar for the couple of miles on to Henley. And the main line trains are now electric all the way to Wales, electric loco number 800 008 is in rainbow colours as GWR’s salute to pride.
