Recovery operation to bring my CBR600RR 2017 ABS back from Chamonix to my preferred bike garage at Manosque. This transfer was ruled out of scope by the insurance who wanted the repair handled locally in Savoie. The damage seems only scratches to metal and fairing but a rough quote suggested there was a risk that the repairs would be deemed uneconomic by the Savoie dealer and insurance assessor.
Four cylinder, high-revving, middleweight sportsbikes are becoming increasingly rare and I want to hold on to this one, the last version of the CBR600 sold by Honda in Europe. This incident was in a 30km/hr area; the car driver has admitted he reversed so he is clearly fully at fault, but I don’t want to loose my RR as a result of the claims process.
So very many thanks to Pascal for all his help with this. We loaded the bike up a ramp, in to a buckle/chock; then we secured it with straps to the steering yoke and over the seat. Another strap held down the ramp during the 390 km journey. The van's a hired Renault Trafic 2023.
Un grand merci à Pascal F et aussi à Chomat Moto pour le prêt de la rampe et le boucle.
