CRF300 Rally & Ninja Z250SL

CRF300 Rally & Ninja Z250SL

Last time out from my garage for my CRF300 Rally. Sad to see it go, it leaves a gap. I’ve had some fun with it, done a bit of riding off-road but it’s not really worked out as I had hoped, I never really made friends with it.

The CRF300 Rally rides minor country roads with gravel, grass and potholes like nothing else but I’ve found it heavy for full off-road. It’s difficult to park reliably except on flat ground; when it’s gone over it’s too heavy to pick up unaided. The tyres and geometry make it imprecise at even moderate speed on tarmac and the brakes often aren’t hard enough. It’s thrown me off half a dozen times at slow speed so I feel lucky I’ve not been injured.
Enough is enough. Great to have tried the CRF300 Rally for a year but I’m happier on a sportsbike on tarmac. So the red bike went to market and the black bike stayed home. I got the price I wanted.

My best CRF rides?

This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed home,
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none,
This little piggy cried “Wee! Wee! Wee!” all the way home
