Wearing new Dainesse leathers on the plane from London to Marseille

First ride of 2019 to my favourite training road, the Col de l’Espigoulier (723 m.); the road absurdly local to Marseille and much-loved by the Marseillais both in view of the amount of rubber laid down on the surface and in folklore. A couple of rides in each direction, each one as much of a workout as a session of a club track day. An afternoon reminding myself of riding skills after wearing new leathers on the plane from London, we enjoyed a great view of the Puy de Sancy (1886 m.), one of the peaks of volcanic origin in the Auvergne.
I’m learning that riding a sports motorbike is not just the skills on the road, it doesn’t work without specific training in the gym, not just recovery physio after injuries. So whilst it’s great to get back on two wheels in the sunshine, it’s not been without quite a lot of work in the gym. And it only gets worse as you get older but it’s still fun.
